Writing Ideas

1) Choose a significant event from history (Moon Landing, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, Columbus arriving at the New World), Chicago Fire) and try some of the following:
*Rewrite a portion of the event from the point of view of a participant or write a diary account of someone who was there.
*Use this as the background for a short story. Maybe two people fall in love. Maybe a young person discovers his or her truth strengths.
*Write a short play or dialogue story about the event. The participants were all there, but they had radically different reactions.

2) We have Chicago history material at the bottom of the Valuable Resources page, and directly below. These have lots and lots of writing ideas.
